Alloy C22 is an improved alloy for use in a range of aggressive industrial environments. Alloy C22 has excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in oxidizing and acid chloride environments, and is practically immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking (SCC). Alloy C22 has superior weldability, and alloy C22 weld fillers are used to join other corrosion resistant alloys such as Alloy C-276.

Hastelloy C22, also known as alloy C22, is a versatile austenitic nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy with enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. The high chromium content provides good resistance to oxidizing media while the molybdenum and tungsten content give good resistance to reducing media. This nickel steel alloy also has excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media including wet chlorine and mixtures containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids with chlorine ions. Other corrosives Hastelloy C-22 has resistance to are oxidizing acid chlorides, wet chlorine, formic and acetic acids, ferric and cupric chlorides, sea water, brine and many mixed or contaminated chemical solutions, both organic and inorganic. This nickel alloy also offers optimum resistance to environments where reducing and oxidizing conditions are encountered in process streams. This is beneficial in multi- purpose plants where such “upset” conditions occur frequently.
This nickel alloy resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone, thus making it suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition.
Alloy C-22 should not be used in service temperatures above 1250° F due to the formation of detrimental phases which form above this temperature.

Although ductile enough to be formed by cold working, intermediate annealing may be necessary due to work hardening. Forging should be performed between 1750-2050° F followed by rapid cooling. Annealing can be performed at a temperature range between 2020-2150° F followed by a rapid quench. Cooling at an accelerated rate avoids the formation of detrimental phases which form between 1400-1800° F. Welding can be done by gas tungsten-arc, gas metal-arc and shielded metal-arc processes.

Alloy 904L is a non-stabilized low carbon high alloy SS 904L Grade UNS N08904 Plates. The addition of copper to this grade gives it greatly improved resistance to strong reducing acids, particularly sulphuric acid. HALF HARD COLD ROLLED - This Type 301 - (chrome-nickel) Stainless Strip has been produced by Cromonimet to meet a need for an in-between forming Quality Strip within a hardness range calling for minimum tensile and yield strengths at 150,000 PSI and 110,000 PSI respectively with elongation in 2 inches at 15-18%. Its ductility and elongation are superior to Types 302 and 304, but it work hardens much more rapidly.
FLATNESS - Because of the wide range of widths and thicknesses and the variety of tempers produced in coils and cut lengths, no flatness tolerances have been established for cold rolled stainless steel. Flatness on temper rolled stainless steel strip cannot be guaranteed.
