Stainless steel round bar is generally sold in the annealed condition, although some grades such as 17-4 or certain 400 series grades may be hardened by heat-treating. The standard length for most size round bars is 12'-14' random lengths, but lengths are available in some sizes up to 20' and longer. Finishes on bars can vary and include cold drawn, centerless ground, smooth turned, rough turned, turned ground and polished, and HRAP.

Stainless Steel 303 is a free machining stainless steel. Due to the addition of sulfur this 18-8 chrome nickel stainless steel has enhanced machinability where before it was tough and difficult to machine. Stainless Steel 303 is widely used in the screw machine industry, as well as for use in shafts, valves and fittings. Stainless Steel 303 is not recommended for vessels containing gases or liquids under high pressure.

Grade 304L, the low carbon version of 304, does not require post-weld annealing and so is extensively used in heavy gauge components (over about 6mm). Grade 304H with its higher carbon content finds application at elevated temperatures. The austenitic structure also gives these grades excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures.
Key PropertiesThese properties are specified for flat rolled product (plate, sheet and coil) in ASTM A240/A240M. Similar but not necessarily identical properties are specified for other products such as pipe and bar in their respective specifications.

it is mainly used for high cutting and surface finish requirements. 303 Cu stainless steel bars are Ideal for automatic lathes screw and mut.
303Cu austenitic stainless steel bar is acid resistant stainless steel.To improve the performance of steel,
more than 0.60% molybdenum is add in steel , so it can be ablative, easy cutting and corroded.
Adding Cu element and a small amount ofsulfur, phosphorus makes it easier cutted than the 304, and other properties similar to 304 stainless steel bars, but the corrosion resistance is not so good as 304.
